I am the father of three beautiful children. A few months prior to the birth of my youngest son our family found out that he was going to be born with a serious heart condition that would require multiple surgeries during the first several years of his life. The thought of potentially loosing one of my children was devastating. Owen was born on June 25, 2008 and almost immediately required his first of four surgeries to date. We truly consider ourselves fortunate that he is still with us today. We owe a great deal to the surgeons, doctors, and nurses at the Hospital for Sick Children for saving Owen’s life. The thought that a child can be born with a Congenital Heart Defect is unbelievable but far more common than most people think. We have seen miracles occur at the hospital but have also shed many tears with other families who have not been as fortunate. Through Wyatt’s Warriors we hope to spread awareness regarding this serious issue and raise much needed funds to ensure that other children are given a second chance like Owen.
